The Croatan National Forest is comprised of almost 160,000 acres and has the Cedar Point Tideland trail.  Only minutes from Marsh Harbour, it is one of the highlights of the Croatan National Forest and is designated a National Recreation trail. It consists of two separate trails that move along the shore and over the marsh grasses.  The primary trail is 1.4 miles and the other is 0.6 miles.  Hikes are self guided and have boardwalks and raised walkways along with plackets illustrating how this area between ocean and land work.  It affords an excellent opportunity to view the estuary, featuring tidal marsh areas and wildlife viewing blinds.
